California state trooper is also called California highway patrol officer. They earn a monthly salary of $4,274 — $5,361 during the academy training stage. Seven hours’ overtime work is mandatory each month, thus the overtime pay is mandatory, too. They also get full health and dental benefits for themselves and their family. After graduation, they are assigned jobs, and their salary rises to $5,537 — $6,732. Then they got a 5% raise each year until the salary reaches the highest level. The top annual salary is $79,248 currently. There are certain preliminary requirements for the job. Applicants must be between 20 and 35 years old. The vision acuity requirements are 20/40 vision uncorrected and 20/20 corrected, in each eye. Of course, only American nationals without felony convictions can apply. They must have a California’s driver license. They should hold a high school diploma or GED. If they have a university degree or military service experience, it’s much better.

The applicants should be in good health condition. They must be free from any physiological and psychological diseases that would prohibit their full functioning in the job.

The trooper training program lasts six months. It teaches the new recruits necessary skills such as self-defense, using firearms, arresting criminals, etc.
