The applicant must be an American citizen. He must have a high school diploma or GED. In Georgia, the age limits are set at the graduation time. The applicant must be 21 years old or above at the time of graduation.

If you meet with all the basic requirements, you can go through the selective process. There are several disqualifiers that will automatically disqualify you if you are classified into one of them.

If you intentionally make false statements during the employment process, you will be rejected. If you have poor personal financial management in the past five years – you have debts, bankruptcies, or pending civil suits – your application will be suspended for investigation. Any felony conviction will automatically disqualify you. Current illegal drug use is also a disqualifier.

The purpose of the physical fitness test is to evaluate your physical strength and stamina. You must meet a minimum physical fitness level in order to work as a State Patrol . The test includes sit-ups, push-ups, bench press, and 300 meter sprint.

Your vision acuity should be at least 20/60 uncorrected and 20/40 corrected, in each eye.

If you ever had studied in an accredited college or university for 90 quarter hours or the equivalent in semester hours, you are a preferred candidate.

Everyone has equal opportunities in the application process. Good luck.
