Arkansas State Trooper salary

State troopers in Arkansas earn an average salary of $35,610. If you are a new recruit, you may earn a starting salary of $29,326. After working for some time and becoming experienced, you may earn $41,894. According to the statistics, the monthly salary of Arkansas state troopers ranges from $2,374 to $3,561, and the starting monthly salary ranges from $1,955 to $2,933. Of course these are all past data. The salary is always updated with every year, and it can be found on the Arkansas government site.  Currently the hourly payment for a recruit is $16.58. They start earning the salary when they are still in the training academy. When they graduate and get employed, their hourly wage increases to $17.30.

 

New troopers can enjoy 11 paid holidays, 12 paid vacation days, and 12 paid sick leave days. There are additional benefits as well. The state troopers are covered with healthcare insurance. Their family members are included in the insurance policy, too. They are also entitled to the retirement contributions. When they execute overtime duty, they get overtime pay.

If being a state trooper is your career choice, you can start to apply. But you should familiarize yourself with the minimum qualifications at first. As usual, you must be at least 21 years old; you must be a U.S. citizen; and you must have a driver license. Then you must possess a high school graduate degree or a GED. Then there come the vision requirements. Minimum visual acuity should be 20/100 uncorrected and 20/20 corrected, in each eye. And of course, you should never have been convicted of a felony charge.

The hiring process is divided into 4 steps: application, academy training, field training, and assignment. You will be asked to fill out some forms. Once the forms are submitted and accepted, you will be contacted to begin the test. You will pass a physical assessment test, which is a must-do in every state. There is a written examination, background investigation, and a polygraph interview.

The academy training consists of the physical, classroom, and practical parts. The physical training lasts 1,080 hours. They are trained in the Arkansas State Police Training Academy.

After they graduate from the academy school, they will take the field training which lasts for 12 weeks. When they successfully complete this stage, they are assigned patrol duties.
